Frequently Asked Questions
Do coaches get perks?
Yes! One player registration is refunded per team you coach after the season and gear return. Coaches also choose from available practice times and locations.
When do teams practice?
Coaches select available practice slots on a first-come basis. Practice schedules may vary by sport, season, facility availability, and age division.
Who can coach?
Each team has a head coach and may also have an assistant coach. All coaches and assistant coaches must complete the applicable EYSA volunteer requirements.
How do we handle playing time?
EYSA is an “everybody plays” recreational league. Players should receive fair and equal playing opportunities.
Can I coach multiple teams?
Yes. If you coach more than one team, identify your primary and secondary team. EYSA will work to reduce scheduling conflicts when possible.
What equipment do I get?
EYSA provides a gear bag with the equipment needed for your team. Please keep equipment in good condition and return it as directed at the end of the season.
Coaching Role & Sportsmanship
Your most important job as a coach is creating a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where kids can learn and enjoy the game. If your players finish the season excited to come back, that's a successful season.
Many EYSA officials are local teens who are learning too. Mistakes will happen. Please remain positive, calm, and respectful on the sidelines. Coaches set the example for players and families, and good sportsmanship starts with us.
